Anti-discriminatory practice
Our stance
Streets of Growth promotes anti-discriminatory practice in everything we do. Staff and volunteers model inclusive behaviours in sessions, on the street, and behind the scenes. We welcome every young person and adult, and we challenge racism, prejudice, and unequal treatment, wherever it appears.
What this looks like day to day
We set clear group agreements, everyone is treated with dignity and respect.
We explore different cultures and identities in sessions, including lived experience and positive role models.
We challenge discriminatory language and behaviour quickly and calmly, with a restorative approach that avoids humiliation, and we record our actions.
We adapt activities and environments so everyone can take part, including access needs and language support.
We use data and feedback to remove barriers to engagement.
How our team models this
All staff and volunteers complete regular training on anti-racism and anti-discriminatory practice.
Supervisors review case work and session plans with an equality lens.
We reflect after incidents, we learn, and we share improvements with the team.
Our recruitment, induction, and progression routes are fair and transparent.
Our anti-racism statement
We work to identify and remove bias, we listen to communities most affected by racism, and we hold ourselves to account through training, data, and independent feedback. We expect partners and suppliers to uphold the same standards.
If you see or experience discrimination
Tell a member of staff or a volunteer, or contact us directly.
We will respond quickly and fairly, and we will record what we do.
Young people are supported through an informal, restorative process. Adults follow our complaints procedure.
